Tamarac's Lakes

Did you know...Tamarac has six different lakes at five different elevations? The upper lakes, Killdeer (beach) and Whippoorwill Lakes, total about 17 acres with a maximum depth of almost ten feet at the dam end. From the upper lakes to our lowest lakes, the water drops about 20 feet, and it is controlled by a series of dams and sluice boxes, which collectively contain twenty-nine million gallons of water.

Beach & Pavillion

Tamarac offers a beach area with Pavillion for dues paying members.  Beach tags are available at the beginning of each season.  Services provided by the Beach Committee for TLA members in good standing include:



  • Lifeguards on duty all summer.

  • Two flush porta-pots are stationed at the rear of the beach area.

  • Picnic facilities including a large charcoal grill, many picnic tables, a patio, and a pavilion to dine under.

  • A canoe rack at the beach, but boats may be launched from the dock at the side beach area. Canoes must be registered.

  • Volleyball & Basketball courts.

  • The beach committee also sponsors Beach Opening and Beach Closing parties.

  • The beach pavilion can be reserved for TLA residents in good standing.  Number of guests not to exceed 50 unless prior approval by TLA Board.  Reservation form can be downloaded here.

Fishing

Tamarac has some of the best

fishing in Medford. Our lakes contain

Largemouth Bass, Sunfish, Crappies

(Calico Bass), Bullheads, Channel Catfish, Yellow Perch, Freshwater Eels, Minnows and Golden Shiners. In addition to these fish, all of our lakes contain fresh water clams (many shells can be spotted along the shorelines). Also observed are many species of turtles, frogs, snakes and fresh water sponges. All of this is only possible due to a clean and healthy environment. Please help us to maintain what we have.


We also have a small population of Triploid Grass Carp. These carp are herbivores that have a voracious appetite for the undesirable vegetation that grows in our lakes. They do not reproduce and it is very important that if any of these fish are caught, they be released immediately. 
 

Please follow all State of New Jersey fishing regulations while in any of our lakes. 

 

​Boating
Make sure that your boat, canoe, or sailboat has been registered with the TLA. (NO POWERBOATS ARE ALLOWED ON THE LAKE.) If you use an electric trolling boat, you must have a boat operator’s license. This can be obtained at the Division of Motor Vehicles.

Things to Remember

​TLA BEACH TAGS MUST BE WORN WHEN YOU ARE ON THE BEACH AND AT ALL TLA FUNCTIONS.



ALL CANOES MUST BE REGISTERED.



ALL TLA FACILITIES AND GREEN AREAS ARE CLOSED FROM 9:00 PM TO 6:00 AM WITH THE EXCEPTION OF OFFICIAL TLA SPONSORED AND/OR SANCTIONED FUNCTIONS.



IN ORDER TO PROTECT OUR WATERSHED, PLEASE USE PHOSPHATE FREE FERTILIZER ON YOUR LAWNS!  Excess use of fertilizer can cause chemical imbalances that will accelerate aquatic plant growth and/or high bacterial counts. 
 

PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE GEESE OR DUCKS! Even though it is fun to feed them, this only encourages them to stay at our lakes. And it is against the law (Township ordinance 2003-23).
